About Sarroud

"Sarroud" Zakher feminist kitchen:

The  Israel's recent war , 2008-2009, on the Gaza Strip, left the destruction and devastation, and some Palestinian families  los their breadwinners, a man, and thus women become heads of their own  families  after the sudden absence of their  husbands and  at the same time they didn't  possess sufficient experience to assume this responsibility.As a result,  we established  Sarroud to serve this group of the women within the Palestinian community who have lost their husbands in the recent war in Gaza.

We have been working in the establishing  Sarroud since  2009 with funding from the GLOBAL FUND FOR WOMEN and the Belgian government in collaboration with the Office of the Belgian Cooperation MIP in Jerusalem.

The ""Sarroud" Zakher feminist kitchen  is one of the pioneer projects in Gaza Strip and the value achieved by the kitchen is that  the administration of the kitchen and production processes, as well as marketing for the domestic market, are all carried out by women, and this proves the ability of women's self-reliance and  fast adapting  to the surrounding circumstances.

 The main objective of the kitchen is to find a permanent source of steady income for a slice of women within the standards for women who are heads of their  families, women after the war widows or divorced women of who are subjected to  violence.
